Would you look at that… I made another game this weekend!  The inimitable Rob Giusti and I combined forces as Less Than Royal again to crank out something for the 2011 Global Game Jam (location: UC Santa Cruz).  48 hours later, and we are the proud pappies of a beautiful new baby boy, Centerlights

This theme of this year’s jam was ‘extinction’, and we thought it would be fun to play with multiple definitions of the word, designing a system that can be read as a variety of metaphors.  What we ended up with is a nice meditative experience, equal parts game and visualizer.  There’s a bit of an explanation in there for the more attentive players, but hopefully the system is artsy enough that you can find your own meaning in it.

And if that doesn’t do it for you, it’s also pretty as hell.

(Update:  The votes are in, and Centerlights was voted to second place in a crowd favorite poll of the jammers.  Second was a three-way tie out of fifteen or so games created for the jam, and all the other games were all really cool, so we’re very proud.  Thanks to everyone who liked our game, and extra thanks to everyone who recognized us as “the MirrorriM guys!”)
